("Acquiescence" means "to consent without making objections; agreeing or submitting quietly; to give consent by keeping silent.")

"We’re going on an adventure . I’m going to take you places you haven’t been in the Spirit. I’m going to lavish you with good gifts. I am going to open up windows and gates of opportunity. I am going to restore to you the years that the locust plague has stolen. I’m going to manage you and direct you—like a Life Manager—bringing direct- ion, guidance, and decision-making for your welfare.

"I’m going to resist the enemy on your behalf and make plans that include you. I’m going to honor your travail and the desires of your heart, long ago placed there by Me. I’m going to bring forth My strong purpose and bring life from your emptiness and death. I will restore and lavish you with good gifts—fit for royalty.

"You will know as you are known. You have a little strength (in Me) and you have not denied My name, and so I will make you a pillar (of strength). (Rev. 3:8-12) I will take that which you have returned to Me of increase, and I will use it to seed your future.

"The times of empty nothingness, of seemingly graceless existence, will soon be far behind, and you will triumph over the lost years, exalting Me in them. I will have the pre-eminence as everything, laid bare in this season, will be evident and accessible to be removed and refinished, renovated and restored.

"Preparation is always the most work and the greatest commitment of time for a job well done. You, My own, will be My good and faithful servants, to whom I will say, "Well done"—not for that which you yourselves have done, but for all that you yielded so that I might be exalted…for all that you surrendered so that patience might have her perfect work. You have chosen well among the alternatives and pleased Me with you submission. The character of the Lamb can reflect nicely from such a mirror of acquiescence.

"There will be, forthcoming, an expansive time of great opportunities, beyond your expectations, even beyond belief…for I will have My way in a people chosen for their weakness, in which to make evident My strength.

"See that you acquiesce further, continuing to learn your lessons, as this will please Me greatly. Your evident display of usefulness rests utterly in My hands and on My abilities to bring forth through you and from you that which I have invested in you. All that you must do is allow it to be done in you. I am for you, a Mighty, Terrible One—surely, consistently fighting on your behalf and bringing forth My good purpose within the garden enclosed.

"Your land is Mine now. I will work to preserve all that has been given into My hands. I am not an absentee landlord, but when I say I will save to the uttermost, it is sure that I will complete that which I have begun in you. I will preserve you and keep you by My power. (it will be) not by (your) might, nor by (your) power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord.

"Take heart, My own, for I will surely come and save you. Know that My peace will rest upon you as a dove and My love will encircle. Allow the loss of all things that you might win Christ. Buy wisely of Me that which is eternal, allowing nothing to distract from following after Me. Know that My purpose in you is eternal and lasting.

"You will have great reward in heaven, for as I call you to leave all that you have accumulated, whether it be of human strength, of earthly trea-sures, of lands or homes or people, so will I re-store one hundred fold unto you in this life and the next. (Matt. 19:29) My blessing will rest upon you and you will have translated from earthly confines to realms of glory.

"Come forth from that which has been thwarting your progress. Let loose of provisions thus far accumulated, for there is need for lightness on this journey. Many cares and burdens over earthly possessions are to be left behind. Take no scrip for this journey, but ‘travel light.’ This is how you will possess Me on your journey. I will reward you for displaying an unquenchable and desperate love so intense that nothing prevents you from pursuing Me and My pleasure. Lay down the burdens and personal goals of that which is of earthly root. Come soar with Me, My own, for it time for flying lessons and time to drift on the breezes of My Spirit, being available to go wherever He blows.

"While others are pursuing amid noise and man’s teachings, I am calling another company to come aside unto Me. Think not that you are missing something as you choose to be set apart, for there are those who begin to hear My whisper, and it is these to whom I am calling, in a whisper, these days. Come and be with Me and be My loves, for I would take forth the precious from the vile. I would skim the oil as it rises tothe top. I would call you unto Myself at this time. Let go of all others and allow life to proceed without your input. This is a safeguard and provision for your future, as you come aside and follow Me.

"I have guided you onto pathways hidden from the eyes of man and public gaze, for purposes of training your eyes to seek Mine. Be faithful to seek after Me in every circumstance, amidst quiet or confusion, and you will soon learn always to find Me, regardless of outward storms and disarray. Your future lies in pathways few have found up to now. Let there be no comparing of life with life, neither look to what I have given others and expect a similar out-come. Your destiny is in Me and only there.

"You will find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. For many of My own first fruits, I have allowed all things to fail them that they may learn to rely only upon Me. (These have been) hard lessons, and I have seen the struggles you have endured. Called apart, a peculiar people, set apart…so shall all be who will first stand in the robes of Melchisedec…of whom the world is not worthy.

"Allow then the further processings, knowing that the preparations are all to good purpose, to bring forth the Son as true Life—not the empty, dead, meaningless forms that pass for life..,but the energizing, transfusing, life-changing ministry of life. I call you to this, to come forth from among the dead, to serve me outside the camp, bearing My reproach. All is at hand, ready to come forth for those who are entering in by the strait gate. Know that you have been chosen for this…brought to the kingdom for such a time as this. I will open up the way before you and translate you into that which will glide upon My kingdom roads, as though in a parallel dimension.

"I have chosen you, one of a city, two of a family, and brought you to this time of separation. ("I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion." Jer. 3:14) I will continue to set apart those who are following diligently with pure motives, who have washed their garments in My streams, and who follow patiently over hard ground. You have overcome many things…obstacles set to try the reins of the heart and to show forth the true nature and intents. I have known you in adversity and made Myself one with you in your prisons of circumstances …everywhere, in each one where I have been invited and allowed to do so.

"Each of you has paid a high price to come this far. I gather you now together, under the shadow of My right wingspan, and there I will coddle and succor you, nurture and enfold you. I will encircle and touch, and I will let you know the scent of My nearness. Here we will rest and recover from past battles. Here you will learn to stay close—so close that you will hear and notice as little a thing as the fluttering of My wings. All of heaven’s resources are here to rejoice with Me at that which is coming to pass in this day.

"I gather you as a mother gathers her own near. I have loved you with everlasting love and brought you safely thus far. I will deliver you faultless before My Father’s throne.

"Soon there will be a ceremony..a graduating class will soon be presented before the King. It will come forth like a new promise. You will rejoice and delight in that which I have wrought. I will surely come for you and raise you to heights of expectation and joy.

"There is much preparation to do. Come forth and acquiesce yet further. I am deeply at work on My Masterpiece. Allow nothing to hinder My holy work in you. You are chosen for this. You are dedicated for this. You are newly born, chosen, and dedicated to My purposes. You are My own temples, sanctified in the wilderness and weaned from worldliness. Such are My own in this day. I encompass you with songs of deliverance. Listen. They are playing our song. Come apart to Me and rest. "

The Bride’s Beauty in Christ

Song of Sol. 1:5,6 "I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. Look not upon me, because I am swarthy, because the sun hath scorched me. My mother’s sons were incensed against me; they made me keeper of the vine- yards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept."

This is not the sinner, but the Bride who has become aware of her self-life. The Baptism of the Spirit is given, not simply for power to do miracles, but for power to bring the self-life to death. We are called to be witnesses unto Him, and this word is from the word "martyr." That is exactly what the Spirit wants to do—bring us to a place of dying to old ways, the old nature, to let the Lord arise and rule in us.

The beauty which the bride thought she had, withers up and drops off. She sees her own blackness and unworthiness and she knows that those who behold her must see how unfit she is, as yet, to be His Bride. God makes her to know that she must live and walk in the Spirit and all the unworthy motives, desires, words and actions must be put away if she would be a living epistle read by all men.

Conscious of her own unworthiness, she declares that she is as black as the tents of Kedar. The dark skinned Arabs of the desert covered their tents with black goatskins, a figure of the blackness of sin, an expression of the feeling of unworthiness of every soul who is drawing nearer to God. These black tents are a striking contrast to the princely white tent of Solomon the Bride- groom. God shows her that she will never be anything but black in herself; He calls her to die daily that the life of Christ may be manifested in her mortal body.

She remembers that God sees her in His Son, and in Him she is white and in His worthiness she is worthy. Then she exclaims, "I am comely as the curtains of Solomon." This refers to the curtains of the Tabernacle, made of pure white linen, which speaks of Christ’s spotless humanity. Inwrought into the curtains were purple (His royalty); blue (His heavenly character); scarlet ( a symbol of His suffering); and gold (His divine nature). These are emblems of Christ in His different aspects and attributes. Rev. 19:8 shows that this same spotless raiment has been given to the wife of the Lamb. Rotherham: "And it hath been given unto her, that she should be arrayed in fine linen, bright, pure, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints."

The literal meaning of "bright and pure" is "radiant and pure." "Bright" is from a word meaning "flaming torch." The Bride’s wedding garment is not only pure and holy, it is glorious, shining, and radiant. It is through faith in His work on the cross that little by little she puts it on. Through being identified with Him she has power to put off all that is not of Him. She must do this day by day. When she is clothed in Him she will appear in His likeness!

The "daughters of Jerusalem" represent those who are not among the virgins, yet are not enemies; they may be won for Solomon if they do not see our blackness too plainly. The bride entreats them not to look upon her blackness, nor to see her apart from Solomon.

I would share a word of caution here. It only discourages us if we see our failures and do not behold the beauty of Christ and know our sufficiency in Him. On the other hand, if we see only what we are in Him and do not discern what must be put off, we may become self-satisfied and puffed up.

"The sun has scorched me." This is the darkness that remains from the effects of exposure to the sun. The defects, (tan and wrinkles) which have been left upon our human nature through being controlled by sin and through tending the vineyards of the world, do not disappear as soon as we become new creatures in Christ Jesus. If this were so, we would be faultless at once and would have no need of going on unto perfection. (That would be nice!) No, it is a process. Many today are denying that, and saying "It is all finished", but even nature will show you that, after a seed germinates, it must receive water, sunshine, and be "dunged about." It doesn’t automatically come to fullness until it goes through the process! Its growth is a picture of our spiritual life.

‘My mother’s sons were incensed against me." The mother of the bride is Humanity, represented by Eve. It is the mother’s sons, naturalmen, who have enticed, tempted and made her keeper of the vineyards of the world. As she kept the vineyards of the world, the flesh, and the devil, the sun of the world and sin beat down upon her. She forgot the vineyard of her own soul and beauty and it was neglected, and overgrown with thorns, thistles and weeds. It remained rocky and unfertile. A believer can be so taken up with caring for her little part of the vineyard that she neglects her own life. When the Lord shows us something, it is to be written upon our hearts! If it is not, we need to confess: "Lord, I was so busy tending the vineyard of the world, (or even His Vineyard) that my own vineyard I have not kept."

Longing for the Bridegroom

1:7 "Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where Thou makest thy flock to rest at noon." As she remembers the scorching sun and her former bondage, and how He has broken the bars of the yoke that she may walk upright, she longs to find that rest beside still waters provided for those who believe and obey. She desires to join that company which is close to Him and by faith, behold Him all the time, and are constantly fed by Him. Jesus revealed Himself first to Mary Magdalene because she had loved most.

"Where do these feed at noon? (the highest point of light and spiritual understanding) is now her cry. She wants to know where these are fed so that she may keep in step with them and not linger over food that is dry and withered. "Why should I be as one that is veiled beside the flocks of Thy companions?" She doesn’t want to be led by the under shepherds any longer, and when she doesn’t yield to them it appears as though she were a stranger—as though there were something between her and the Lord.

No longer does she speak of "the virgins" that love Him. No longer can she speak of Him impersonally. She feels as though she were the only one who loves Him. Her cry now is, "O Thou, whom my soul loveth." His Name has truly become as oil poured forth. Her hunger for divine fellowship has increased and she longs to be fed by Him alone and to join that company which is close to Him.

Another bride of the early church cried out: "I have suffered the loss of all things that I may know Christ . . that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, becoming conformed unto His death." As this virgin neared the end, he cried: "I have fought a good fight; I have finished the course; I have kept the faith."

The Bride might pray: "Guide me so that I may walk in every ray of light and feed upon You who are the Bread of life—that I may feed in trial and perplexity, in temptation and in difficulty—that from You I may get the uplifiting power for everything that comes into my life. Teach me to feed upon Your Hidden Manna so that the heat cannot make me faint, nor storms dismay and make me afraid."

The Nuptial Crown

1:9 "I have compared thee, O my love, to a steed in Pharoah’s chariots." As Pharaoh’s horses were famous for their speed and beauty, and bore the pomp and grandeur of the kings, so the bride’s speed and beauty are becoming marked and she bears the glory of the King. He has been teaching her that to obey is better than sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of rams. So fervently does she obey His voice and pursue after Him that He compares her to a steed in Pharaoh’s chariots.

1:10 "Thy cheeks are comely with plaits of hair, thy neck with strings of jewels." Eastern women wear strings of jewels hanging down upon their cheeks, giving their faces the appearance of being framed in jewels. The jewels are symbolic of the comeliness of Christ—His attributes and graces. As God reveals to us the beauty of Christ’s attributes, our rejoicing may be so great that we will mistake revelation for possession, but if we have really put them on, we shall not know it. It is when the jewel of humility "Which is in the sight of God of great price", is appearing upon her, that she is the least conscious of it.

1:11 "We will make thee plaits (circles, a crown) of gold with studs of silver." This crown will be made of the divine nature (gold) of the Heavenly Bridegroom, who died that she might partake of His nature and become a fit bride for such a Bridegroom. "Silver" is the symbol of the atonement. The silver that was used in the Tabernacle was from the half shekel that the Israelites gave "to make atonement for their souls." The crown that she must wear if she would sit with Him upon His throne, is His own nature in the place of her sinful nature. She becomes bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh.

"Those that are faithful unto death shall have a crown of life." "Hold fast that which thou hast, that no one take thy crown."

Again, Sharon Houck has blessed us with some insight the Lord has given her. "Father began calling me his Bride in 1995. I didn’t think I deserved to be called His Bride. Prior to a Festival of Worship which was to begin with a Bridal March, the Holy Spirit began to drop scripture into my Spirit. First, II Tim. Chap. 3; then He took me back to verses 2-5. He said these are those who are trying to put on a wedding dress but they have on dirty underwear! He said that the stench was reaching his nostrils! Father began to show me that the undergarments of the Bride are the fruits of the Spirit. "

I remembered how the Lord was counseling me through the night. He was "awakening" me by speaking these two lines into my heart over and over as I slept:

"To resist My rest

Is to miss My blessing!"

When I awoke, He continued to speak very tenderly yet very strongly: "Oh, My child, be of a humble spirit and receive My rest and see the glorious fruit of this abiding. A "stabilizing factor!" My gold, My divine nature, is worked within you as you rest, yes, even when you sleep! Are you not My handiwork, My piece of tapestry within My hands? I urge you to continue to remain quiet and at peace as I do My work upon your soul. This silence and stillness is alien to the world around you. They are fearful of it as it speaks death to self-life. But I have called you to live in a high and holy place, away from the clatter and busyness of the earthly realm. This call is to live in Me in heavenly places where you are sheltered and protected, resting from your own works where I will clothe you from on high with My heavenly garments. Continue to enter more deeply into My rest, My love, My dove. The fruit of this abiding shall be peace both inward and outward. Come, enter in, that the King of Glory may come in!"

The next day, He spoke more into my heart:

"As a child, rarely did you experience the safety and rest you needed. But in this "New Day" I’ve brought you into, I have precious promises to unfold before your very eyes! You shall see these new things I’ve had in store for you from the beginning of time! But, just as you experienced turmoil and unrest as a child on your bed, so now in this Day I bring you to a bed of green—a green pasture of rest that gives you New Life even as you sleep! This rest shall be so complete, nothing in your surroundings will remove you from it! This Rest in me will bring stability and security your heart has longed for.

"I promise you that, though the Goliaths of your soul seek only destruction, I, your God, have come to establish peace and rest within your borders. And you will no more go out and no evil thing shall enter in, for I seal you about on all sides with My Love that encompasses you about as a protective barrier. So rest, My love. Let Me finish My work within as I have you on the palm of My hand. Precious in the sight of your God is the death of His saints! Yes, as they die daily to their own carnal ways, they are precious and delightful to their Father who rejoices that the image of His Son is coming forth! He is dancing over them and leaping with joy at the many "sons" that are coming into His glory. (Zeph. 3:14-20). A long-awaited cry of His heart is being answered in this New Day. Isa. 53:11, ""He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied…"And those who have the righteous garments upon them shall rejoice in like manner! What a glorious day you walk in, My Bride. Fullness is coming! Rest is coming; enter in and be blessed."

"And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one an- other: and there was given unto him a great sword" Rev. 6:3,4.

Take note, that as each horse goes forth, the method and manner of warfare is given. It is your land and it is my land that is being surveyed, encompassed and besieged; for he must needs destroy all principalities and powers in order to have a company of Sons, a Bride without spot or blemish.

In relation to this, we can see a parallel in the eighth chapter of Luke’s gospel. Jesus gave them the parable of the sower sowing the seed. On first glance, we might think of it as a parable of the various kinds of seed; but as the Great Teacher ex-plains it in the succeeding paragraph, we can see it is about the different types of follower and even their "inner land." Hence, the type of follower is shown by the condition of their inner land—their rich fields?—their areas of drought?—their rain forests?

".. on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it and bring forth fruit with patience." Vs 15

As the red horse goes forth, we are told the Rider has power to take peace from the earth. Might we interpret this to mean, "He has power to take peace from their earthiness?" All peace and pleasure is taken away from the worldly pursuits. As I see it, He makes it easy for us to fast from our earthly ways and habits until we come to the place that we can look upon such things with horror.

The part in vs. 4, "..that they should kill one another," deserves comment. Just as in open warfare, evil forces can be pitted against each other, e.g. in the last world war—naziism against communism, so the same thing can take place in inner warfare. I can only think of a homely example in regards to the latter: Let’s say this certain person is one of those who always has to be first; keenly competitive—admiring the finest, and determining to "have it all."

In this type of overt ambition, spirits of pride and jealousy can tag along. Then, severe financial reverses come, followed by severe despair and remorse. Both are evil forces—the greed in the beginning and the despair and remorse following. Yet, the despair and remorse can overcome the original greed.

If the example seems to "strike a note" with you, cheer up, for now that the greed is gone, He may prosper you again.

The point is that if all peace and joy is taken from the worldly things we have lusted after, we will make a new decision on these things and then we will be able to praise Him for the method He used.

We will continue with the red horse and, more importantly, the Rider of the red horse, next time.

In my dream, I was at a soldiers’ convention or training conference. All those who had come to it were placed into small groups in which each one present would learn various ways to endure. I knew we would ultimately be shown how a soldier could endure to the very brink of death. My own group watched as a soldier, dressed in full battle array, got into a pool of water (of affliction) and began to float on his back.

Something happened, and the soldier was pressed (beyond measure) under the water until he was near to drowning. There was so much force placed upon his body that we saw what we thought were his intestines, being squeezed out of his body. This puzzled us, for they seemed to be coming out of the soldier’s head (his brain… mind). There was a shriveled-up "critter" of some kind at the end of the intestines, and we knew that the purpose of this great pressing was to expose the "critter" (the soldier’s thinking).

The next thing I knew, all the small groups had come back together, and we were now seated around tables in a great banquet room. Each one of us was now dressed in the most beautiful evening attire. One at a time, we were being called to rise from our seats and perform a certain task. When my name was called, I got up and took my turn to slide down a ramp—a long, shiny, sliding board. I landed squarely on my feet, as though I were making my debut. I was surprised at how grace- fully this "task" was accomplished, especially after I saw what I was wearing.

I was wearing an iridescent white, soft, flowing gown, more beautiful than any I had ever seen. I was given a warm round of applause (Christ in a people being glorified), as they did for each one who made their debut. As difficult as it had been to watch the endurance tests, the convention turned out to be a fantastic experience for all of us, (all things working together for good), and we were filled with an awe that we could in no way comprehend."

Later, the Lord gave me this word: "You have endured the stripping. Now comes the equipping. The soldier that you saw in battle array was weighted down by all his weapons of war (that which fortified his own efforts and strength in his mind). This is what rendered him helpless and near to death and drowning. Thereby was he allowed to be pressed beyond measure, until that vile word within him could be seen for what it was. The inner reins/intestines were as a dried up and blackened umbilical cord, and the fetus at the end had dried up and withered too, for in his own strength and mind, this soldier-warrior of God had produced only futility and deception (one’s own ability to bring forth Life).

"This has been a great trial for My Own ones, and it has seemed that I have been merciless in My ways to deliver them from their own evil ways to produce My Son, but I have seen and heard the end from the beginning. It has not yet been revealed (this speaks of a coming revelation, which some refer to as our Jubilee) how I shall release My own from the weightiness of their own weapons of war. But the day is coming and now is, when I shall disclose to My own, all that shall cause them to overcome and become My own weapons of war—Mine own right arm and the strength of My Life upon the earth. For it will be a full measure and portion of Myself that I shall pour out upon each one who has been appointed for this hour and worn out his own weapons of war, that they might become My Own weapons of war. Look and be amazed, for I shall bring to pass all that I have spoken."

Imagine a community where 92% of the population claim to be born again; where the last of four city jails has been closed for lack of crime; where agricultural productivity has reached Biblical proportions. You are in Almolongo,Guatemala (population 19,000) where just a few years ago poverty, witchcraft, idolatry, alcohol addiction, and violence ruled, until a few intercessors began praying and fasting. Conversions, healings, and deliverances from demonic oppres- sion followed. Almolongo has been transformed into a city of churches instead of bars.

Now, imagine a city where 60,000 Christians jam the soccer stadium (provided rent-free by the city fathers who want to encourage the Christian influence in their city) for all-night prayer vigils every 90 days; where a multi-billion drug cartel has been brought to its knees. A few years ago Calle, Columbia was the drug capital of the world. This large city, controlled by cocaine drug lords, was full of violence, corruption, and homicides. In 1995 a few believers came together and began interceding for unity among believers, and for the overthrow of occult influences and the drug cartel. Soon, believers from all over the city converged for an all-night prayer meeting at the soccer stadium.

That weekend, the newspapers headlined that there had been no murders for two days, where before, there was an average of 15 a day. A few days later the head drug-lord was arrested. Before the summer was over, six out of seven of the drug lords had been arrested. Corruption throughout the city was reduced dramatically. As the believers continued to come together in unity in serious intercession, the Kingdom of God continued to descend upon their city where thousands continue to be converted.

Now, imagine a town where local bars have been transformed into churches; where ancestral shrines have been destroyed; where entire family clans have come to faith in Christ. In Kiambu, Kenya (a suburb of Nairobi) rape, violence, corruption, alcohol addiction, and spirit of witchcraft had made this town one of the most undesirable places to live in all of Kenya. The few churches were impotent, that is, until round-the clock intercession resulted in the overthrow of the communities’ leading witch, and a dramatic increase in conversions. Now Kiambu has one of the lowest crime rates in Kenya.

Closer to home, Hemet, California had become home to a variety of new age and occult groups, youth gangs, methamphetamine labs, and exhibited a general apathy toward God. Hemet’s spiritual turnaround began with a night of prayer and fasting by a few intercessors. As this continued, more intercessors joined in. Soon they began to see victories. Cult membership shrank to less than 3/10 of one percent, drug dealers and gang members were converted, violence virtually disappeared, the drug trade dropped by 70%, and there was a new unity among the churches.

Truly, the Kingdom of God continues to come to this earth. "Let Thy glory be seen over all the earth!" And, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." II Chronicles 7:14.
